Firm’s
Responsibility: Condition Surveys of: Intake, Treatment Works, Pumping Stations, Electro/Mechanical equipment, Pumping Mains, Distribution Mains, Reservoirs and Appurtenances. Water main sizes varying from 80 mm dia to 450 mm dia. Bills of quantities and Tender Documents prepared for rehabilitation works. Customer surveys for preparation of (i) Block maps indicating consumer location, and (ii) Computerised Customer Database which can be regularly updated. Production, bulk supply measurement using Aqua Probes, Ultrasonic Flow Meters, Data Loggers, etc. to assess losses within the Distribution Network.
Project Background: The Project covers rehabilitation and augmentation of three rural and one urban water supply scheme. Kandara: The project area covers 420km2 of agriculturally high/medium potential zones situated in the Central Province of Kenya. It is a rural water supply scheme which includes a number of small trading centres. All consumers in the area are on individual connections. Total length of 80 mm dia and large water mains is 320km. Kahuti: The project area covers 330km2 of agriculturally high potential zones and is situated in the Central Province of Kenya. It is a rural water supply scheme with one urban centre - Kangema. The project comprises of three independent water supply schemes with their own sources. Two of these are gravity schemes while the third one is a pumping scheme. All consumers in the area are on individual connections. Total length of 80 mm dia and larger water mains is 150 km. Litein: The project area covers 564 km2 of agriculturally high potential zones and is situated in the Rift Valley Province of Kenya. It is a rural water supply scheme with a few urban centres like Litein, Sotik, Kapkatet. All consumers in the area are on individual connections. Total length of 80 mm dia and greater water mains is 200km. Siaya: The project area covers 69 km2, comprising of Siaya Municipal Council. At present approximately 12 km2 of the area has developed to urban levels, and the remaining area is considered as peri-urban. The present water supply scheme covers an area of 12 km2. All consumers in the area are on individual connections. Total length of 80 mm dia and greater water mains is 30km. |
